Elizabeth Sue “Betty” Rutledge

Elizabeth Sue "Betty" Rutledge, age 86, passed away on December 27, 2022, in St. Charles, Missouri. She was born to Luther Edgar and Dessie Wilma Jewell (Spaulding) Rutledge on February 1, 1936, in Birch Tree, Missouri. Betty graduated from Birch Tree High School in 1954. She worked for McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) from 1966-1991 and was very proud of her accomplishments there. Betty was a roaring St. Louis Cardinals fan. She enjoyed making crafts, and the family adored her handmade counted-cross-stitch Christmas stockings. Betty also made the best homemade fudge and peanut brittle. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Dessie Rutledge, and three brothers, Jim, Bud, and Bob Rutledge. Betty is survived by her sister, Wilma Rutledge of Birch Tree; sister-in-law, Barbara Rutledge of Springfield, MO; and an array of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her long talks and support. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at United Methodist Church, Birch Tree, Missouri, under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Birch Tree.
