Louis D. “Louis” Broadfoot, 81, of Festus died February 5, 2022 at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Broadfoot was a retired millwright and master trim carpenter of over 48 years with Carpenters Union 2214. He was pioneer thoughout the Midwest Bluegrass music community and was a custom string instrument builder. Playing at thousands of festivals across the country, he truly loved playing the banjo, fiddle and many other instruments at jam sessions with his fellow bluegrass players. He was also a member of the Twin City Church of Christ in Festus. Born on March 7, 1940, on the Broadfoot family farm on the Current River in Eminence, he was the son of the late Hazel Mae and Darrell Broadfoot. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years; Brenda Ann (La Plant) Broadfoot. He is survived by a sister in law: Pam LaPlant of Festus; brother in law Ron(Karen)LaPlant of Festus; brother: James(Brenda) Broadfoot of Eminence, sister: Doris Ann(the late Gordon) Warren of Eminence; nieces, Mary M a rgaret (Ryan)Back of Barnhart; Niki Morales of New York, Annette(Gary)Nichols of Eminence; JulieYarber of Eminece; Summer (Vester) Crider, Eminence; Paula(Eric) Eighmy, Branson; Megan(Brad) Michel, Jefferson City; Nephew: Theron (Emily) Broadfoot. Along with many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a nephew: Jeremy J. Morales , two brother in laws: Paul E. LaPlant and LeRoy LaPlant, Mother and father-in-law: Bertha M.”Bootsie” and John P. LaPlant and his beloved pet, Bailey. A memorial celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Twin City Church of Christ in Festus. Arrangements are made under the direction of Vinyard Funeral home.
