West Plains author Richard McGee points out a historical photograph of his greatuncle, Raymond Goodin, who enrolled in the Civilian Conservation Corps in October 1940. Goodin was honorably discharged to active military duty nine months before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and later served during World War II in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. The photograph is featured in McGee's newly published book, “The Civilian Conservation Corps in Missouri: A Legacy Written on the Land,” which details the historic public works program's lasting impact on the state's natural landscape.
