Timothy Joel Atkins

Timothy Joel Atkins, age 63, passed away on February 19, 2022, at his home in Norwood, Missouri. He was born to Joe Herman and Vytrolith Mary (Nash) Atkins on December 30, 1958, in Rolla, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Lorie Lee Hayes, on September 28, 1998, in Mesa Verde, Arizona. Timothy was a radio D.J. and Minister for 45 years. He has a podcast called "South Side Mission" on Gospel radio and it aired in Johannesburg, South Africa; Nassau, Bahamas; St. Vincent and Grenadines; Lusaka, Zambia; and Lagos, Nigeria. Timothy was also actively involved with the Renal Support Network and the Missouri Kidney Program. He liked using his talents in radio and his life living with a chronic disease, to help raise people up to enjoy life. Helping them to live the best way possible, through a relationship with Jesus. He held at one time the Guinness Record for the longest time having kidney dialysis (hemodialysis). He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Vytrolith Atkins; infant sister, Barbara Atkins; brother, Everett Atkins; and nieces and nephews, Jud, Vicki, and Jeannie Atkins. Survivors include his wife, Lorie Atkins; nieces and nephews, Paula Hensley, Debi Coble, John Atkins, Tammy Pitts, Pam Bunch, and Keith Atkins ; and Gudisa and Barbara, his sponsored children in Africa through Compassion International. Timothy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 25, 2022, at Munsell Cemetery, Eminence, Missouri, with Bro. Darrell Jones officiating, under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Eminence. Memorial contributions may be made to Compassion International or Mercy Ships.
