Kenneth Frank Hiebert

Kenneth Frank Hiebert age 86 died peacefully at his home in Liberal, MO on February 4, 2026. Kenneth was born January 14, 1940 in Great Bend, KS to Wilbur A. (Will) & Evelyn Summitt Hiebert. His early years were spent living in South Hutchinson, KS. The family moved to Missouri and Kenneth graduated from Winona High School in 1955. He worked/owned the family owned post company all of his life. 

Kenneth married Patrica Plunk on August 30, 1957 at the Winona Christian Church. To this union, three children were born: Rita Sue, Renai Machelle, and Kenneth (Kenny) Charles. 

After his divorce, Kenneth sold the farm and moved into a home in Fishertown. He met Deloris Gaines through a Christian network and they were married June 21, 1991. With this marriage he gained two sons, David and Chris Gaines. 

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents Wilbur A. and Evelyn Mae Hiebert, sister Margaret Moberly, daughter Renai Machelle Beachy and grandson Matthew Gaines. 

He is survived by his wife of 34 years Deloris, his brother Wilbur Hiebert of Springfield, MO, sisters Gladys (Loyd) McBride of Milner, GA, Debbie Wethy of Winona, MO. His children Rita (Max) Barkley of Scottsboro, AL, sons Kenny Charles (Robin) Hiebert of Winona, MO, David (Carol) Gaines of Liberal, MO and Chris Gaines of Schell City, MO. Grandchildren Amber (Russ) O’Rear, Justin (Jana) Barkley, Amanda (Cody) Ogden, Danielle (Lucas) Brown, Emily (Jonathan) Messindick,\ Kendra (Mark) Haynes, Kyla Hiebert, Josh (Teresa) Gaines, Aaron Gaines, 19 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and life-long friends. 

Kenneth was a faithful member of the Winona Christian Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Board Member and Elder. 

In later years, Kenneth enjoyed taking an hour or two lunch breaks at Winona Senior Center. He was known for liking hot dogs and cherry pie. He was always up for a card game of pitch. You could always catch him saying, “you bet” clapping his hands in a room full of people to get everyone’s attention or to say a prayer before the meal.

Visitation and Memorial Service will be held at the Winona Christian Church on Saturday, April 4 at 10:30 a.m. followed by burial at Pine Lawn Cementary.
