Joyce (Jennings) Bueter

October 03, 2025

Joyce Bueter entered into the arms of her Savior Sept 13, 2025 at age 89, surrounded by all six children and her husband of 71 years.

She was born April 22 1936, the oldest child of Arnold and Saphrona Jennings, in Eminence, Missouri. She spent her childhood roaming the west as she, her parents and little brother, picked a variety of crops for a living, including cotton. She lived in Oakland, California for a time while her parents worked in the shipbuilding yards during World War II.

Joyce met her future husband, Tom Bueter, in Center, Missouri. They married in 1954 and by 1959 had five children. Every Sunday morning, she dressed the children in their Sunday best, and carted them off to church in Hannibal, setting a blessed foundation and spiritual example for her children to follow.

In 1965 the Bueters made the momentous decision to sell everything and head to Arizona for a new life. With no particular destination in mind they landed in Wickenburg and in 1968 a sixth child joined the crew.

Joyce worked graveyard shift at Wickenburg Community Hospital as a nurse’s aide. She chose the 11-7 shift so she could be there in the mornings when the kids went off to school and be home at night for precious family time with them.

Tom was transferred to Prescott in 1971 and Joyce was excited to get hired at Wolfe Publishing (Rifle and Handloader magazines) as circulation manager making many good friends and memories there. The Bueters found a church home at what was then, the Foursquare Church on Lincoln Avenue, and continue worshipping at the Potter’s House to this day.

As empty-nesters, the couple moved to Bullhead City for a while but eventually returned buying a couple of acres in Wilhoit where Tom drove the Skull Valley school bus and Joyce volunteered as a dispatch operator with the Southern Yavapai Fire District working out of her home.

They recently made their home in the Prescott Country Club.

Joyce is predeceased by her parents and her brother Jerry Jennings. She is survived by one brother, Dee, her husband, Tom and his sister, Anne Papke of Milwaukee. She also leaves a maternal aunt, Thelma Thomas in Eminence. The six Bueter children are: Crystal Erickson (Wade); Bill Bueter (Mary Jane), Carl Bueter, Terry Halverson (Dennis), Tracy Blankenship (Darrin) and Leslie Bueter.

Her grandchildren are: Dana Erickson, Courtney Comstock, Robert Casper, Kendall Parnes, Jason Bueter, Karrie Yates, Kristopher Porter, Rachel Brambila Gress, Caleigh Blankenship, Fletcher Blankenship, Joe Mulcahy, Tom Mulcahy, Ryan Mulcahy, Andrew Mulcahy and James Mulcahy. She has numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

A memorial service is scheduled at the Potters House on Saturday Oct 11 at 11 a.m., 5195 N Hwy 89 in Prescott.

The family expresses their gratitude to Arizona Life Hospice and Advanced Cremation Care.
