Michael Dwayne Howell

Michael Dwayne Howell, 70, of Shannon County, Missouri, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Christmas Day, 1954, at home in Shannon County to the late Thela and Fred Howell. 

Michael married the love of his life, Norma C. Howell, with whom he shared a devoted marriage. He was also the proud father of two sons, Kevin and Travis Howell, who preceded him in death. 

He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Human Sciences and dedicated much of his career to SEMO Behavioral Health Center in Poplar Bluff , Missouri, where he touched countless lives through his compassion and commitment to helping others. 

Michael had a lifelong passion for music, often found with a guitar in hand, singing with joy. He also loved working on rigs and cherished the companionship of his beloved dogs, Molly and Earl. 

He is survived by his wife, Norma; his brothers Freddie Howell and Bill (Sharon) Howell; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. 

Michael will also be fondly remembered by the staff and residents of Rock Point Nursing Home, where many became like family to him. His warmth, humor, and love of life will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
