Ronald Dale “Ron” Adams

Ronald Dale “Ron” Adams, age 83, of Monett, MO, passed away on Monday morning, January 31, 2022 at his residence following several months of ill health. Ron was born on August 6, 1938 in Eminence, MO, son of the late Purvis Perry Barks and Onetta Elsie (Johnson) Barks. Shortly after graduation, Ron served his country honorably, first in the Army National Guard and then in the United States Navy, being honorably discharged on July 24, 1963. Ron earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Mt. Vernon Bible College in Mt. Vernon, OH. On July 18, 1959 in East St. Louis, IL, Ron was united in marriage to Vernice Blyzes. They have been blessed with over sixty-two years together. During his career as a Pastor and servant of the Lord, Ron led congregations closer to our Savior from 1974 to 1998. He began at the Foursquare Church in Overland, MO, then Shreveport, LA and finally in Joplin, MO. He had also been a Director for the Monett Area Sheltered Workshop. Ron loved the Lord first and foremost, but also had great love for his family, especially his grandkids. Ron will always be lovingly remembered by his wife, Vernice, of the home; two sons, Scott Adams, of Monett and Mark Adams, of Huntsville, TX; two daughters, Rhonda Coss, of Canyon City, CO and Robyn Hobson and husband Mike, of Kansas City, KS; nine grandchildren, Emily Wiggins and husband Adam , Sarah Cain and husband Travis, Jared Coss, Courtney Rivera and husband Mike, Austin Danner, Adrea Hobson, Scott Adams, Jr. and wife Misty, Alicia Adams and Jesse Adams ; sixteen great-grandchildren, Jacob, Oliver, Luke, Logan, Hailey, Reagan, Jason, Elijah, Kamdyn, Royce, Presly, Trinity, Isaiah, Natalie, Lauren and Keynai; as well as his aunt, Betty Ferguson, of Eminence, MO. Ron was preceded in death by one sister, Debra Durand. Memorial services were held at on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at the Monett Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Josh Lien officiating. Visitation prior to the service. Burial and military honors will be held at a later date at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Memorial contributions have been suggested to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
